Kagiso Tiso Holdings (“KTH”), like the rest of the country and the business community, are heartbroken at the sad news regarding the passing of our independent non-executive director, Saamsodien (“Shams”) Pather on Monday, 5th July 2021.
Shams was appointed to the Board of KTH on 11 August 2011 and was responsible for chairing KTH’s Remuneration Committee and was also a member of the Investment and Valuations Committee.
KTH Chairperson, Reverend Frank Chikane commented, “It was my privilege to have worked with Shams since 2019. What stands out for me is how Shams conducted himself with the utmost integrity at all times and the way he genuinely cared about people, no matter their standing. His strong moral compass and ethical stance on all matters, was an asset to the KTH Board. He will be sorely missed.”
Nkululeko Sowazi, who held the position of joint Chairperson when Shams was appointed to the Board said, “As an independent director, Shams’ extensive experience garnered from sitting on a variety of boards in both listed and unlisted entities, across a variety of sectors, provided immense value to the KTH Board. He will be remembered for his strong leadership and direction during his tenure, as well as his acute business acumen and wisdom.”
“The world is all the poorer for the loss of Shams. His humility, dignity and respect for humanity was unrivalled. He leaves behind a rich legacy to which many can only aspire. Our deep sense of loss is tempered only by the knowledge that his was a life well-lived.” concluded Paballo Makosholo, CEO of KTH.
The Board extends their sincerest condolences to Sham’s family and friends.
